From Bucharest

Working in Bucharest, I ask the cab driver about all the flags in the city. He says: “We’re celebrating being members of the EU for 10 years. There’s a big party tonight.” Coming from the UK, I haven’t heard the words EU and celebration mentioned together for a long time. I’m surprised – and I like it!
